As we move further into summer, many parents begin to notice their children becoming restless, impulsive, and struggling to follow directions. These behaviors often accompany a decline in focus. To combat this, we dedicate two seminar sessions each summer to “Focusing on Focus.” With our first session coming up the week of the 22nd, I wanted to share some proven ways to help children improve their focus.
1. Physical Activity & Avoiding Screen Time
Engaging in physical activity and limiting screen time can significantly enhance concentration, the ability to switch tasks, and overall cognitive function. Unfortunately, many kids fall into a summer slump of inactivity and excessive screen time. Encouraging physical activities, such as martial arts, can help keep their minds and bodies active.
2. Positive Reinforcement is Key
Positive reinforcement, including reward systems like earning stripes, can greatly enhance focus and motivation. Our team of trained instructors, who have long-term relationships with our students, fosters a positive and supportive environment. This consistent encouragement and recognition help children stay focused and motivated.
3. Mindfulness Practice
Mindfulness is often associated with sitting quietly in meditation, but it can also include moving meditations, which many martial arts skills encompass. These practices can lead to improved behavior and attention. Integrating mindfulness into daily routines can help children develop better focus and self-discipline.
While regular class training consistently helps improve focus, we are excited to offer dedicated sessions over the summer to emphasize this important skill. If you’re interested, we have two sessions available: 7/22 PM Seminar – 8/5 AM Seminar

We hope to see you soon!
